In August 2006, the High Point Academy opened its doors for the first day of school, welcoming students from surrounding communities with inviting classes designed for grades K-8. The teachers at The Academy offer a Core Knowledge curriculum with a strong math, science, technology and fitness focus. The mission of The Academy is to foster a culture of critical thinking, love of learning and discovery in a unique academic environment. Throughout the year, students will study English, history, geography, mathematics and sciences, as well as visual arts and music from many civilizations. Teachers at The Academy use both direct instruction and performance-based instruction to challenge, engage and inspire students.

A brief history lesson
In addition to its exceptional curriculum, the Academy boasts a unique history that has garnered attention and accolades from parents and educators throughout Denver. Because local school districts would not be able to establish a school at High Point for a number of years, LNR Property Corp., the community's master planner, brought together a diverse group of local business, civic and educational leaders and parents to develop The Academy plan. The school was unanimously approved by and will operate under a contract with the Colorado Charter School Institute, an independent agency of the Colorado Department of Education.
